Leaving the Ship at Port of Miami 🧭

Walk off, clear the terminal, and the private vehicle is already outside. The driver knows which terminal the ship uses and times the pickup to the real disembarkation, with the curbside greeting included in the fare and the Meet & Greet at the terminal available for $40 if you desire it. Bags in, and the car heads out of the port.

SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites, a Short Walk from the Sand 🗺️

SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites sits right in South Beach, with the shoreline only a short walk from the front door. That closeness is the whole appeal for cruisers coming off a ship: plenty of guests swap the pool deck for real sand the same afternoon they step ashore, then wander back to their room without ever hailing a ride. The property puts you in the heart of the neighborhood rather than on its edge, so the beach, the cafes, and the evening crowds are all within reach on foot.

The surrounding streets carry most of what draws people to this stretch of coast. Lincoln Road Mall, with its open-air shopping and sidewalk tables, is close by, and so is the Art Deco Historic District, where the pastel facades and neon signs give South Beach its look. Espanola Way and the New World Center round out the walkable options, which means a full afternoon or evening can be built without moving the car once you have settled in.

For numerous travelers this is where the trip pauses between the ship and the flight home, or the night before an embarkation morning. Cruisers often book a stay here the evening before they sail, using the beach, the Ocean Drive people-watching, and the nearby shopping as an easy last stop before the terminal. Whichever direction you are heading, the door itself is the finish line, and your ride sets you down there with your bags beside you.

How the Ride to SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites Runs 🕒

Your driver is staged at your ship’s own terminal on Dodge Island, timed to disembarkation, so the vehicle is waiting before you clear the customs hall rather than the other way around. There is an hour of free wait built into every port pickup, which keeps a slow line from costing you the ride. Once your group is together, the bags go into the vehicle for you and the trip is yours alone, one group per car, straight to the door at SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites.

From the port the route runs about 5.7 miles, commonly 17 to 19 minutes depending on the hour, following SR A1A and MacArthur Causeway across to South Beach. There are no added stops and no strangers sharing the seats. At the property your chauffeur pulls up at the entrance and carries the luggage to the curb beside you, and the same flat one-way rate covers the reverse leg on embarkation day if you book both directions together.

The kids were running on empty when we walked off, and a private van already at the curb got everyone to SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites in one piece. The driver took care of every bag so we didn’t have to lift a thing. There was a name sign at the curb, so we knew right where to go.

We didn’t want to juggle the little ones and the bags looking for a ride at the port, so we reserved a private van to SoBe 12th and Ocean Suites. The van was clean, cool, and comfortable, a relief in the Miami heat. No line to stand in — we just went straight from the curb into the car. No stress at all.
